"Emily ~

What would you do if you knew when you were going to die? Would you will death to come and claim you quickly? Or would you pray for more time?
It wasn’t until I knew that I was about to die, that I decided to really live. And it wasn’t until I gave up on love, that I finally found it. Just not in any of the places that I’d been searching.
Sometimes you don’t get the fairytale happily ever after, but if you’re lucky, you get so much more. You get a perfect beginning that you can keep hold of until the end."

My Thoughts

I literally have no words to say about this book.

I mentioned this before in a review, that it is very rare for me to cry when I read. Well, Elle Brooks, you have succeeded in making me cry and I mean the whole short breath-silent-snot cry.

This book was all parts amazing, beautiful and emotional.

'Empty Promises' is a companion novel to 'Forgotten Promises' and 'Promises Hurt'

This novella is based on Emily, Blair's best friend, and her journey through the months before cancer took away her life.

This is book pulls at you heartstrings. That dull ache that you can't help but feel for Emily.

The one best thing about this novella was how Elle Brooks gave Emily 'life' in the midst of heartache. How Emily appreciated the smallest of things that one rarely ever notices.

Elle Brooks has the ability to make the reader fall in love with her characters, be it Ethan < Blair, Brie, Casey, TJ, Jackson and Emily. And now let's add one more person to this list.

Lucas Wade.

The saying 'don't judge a book by its cover' applies to him. He definitely is not what he seems.

He is, in a way, an angel in disguise.

He like Emily is on borrowed time, but he doesn't let it affect him. He literally lives life to the fullest.

He helps Emily in ways she would have never thought.

He made her laugh, he made her feel alive. He made her live again.

He was the 'silver lining' in her dark days. And most importantly, he made Emily fall in love with him, granted the ways we cheesy but it was that cheesiness that left a huge smile on my face.

So, yeah, Lucas Wade was the Hero
The Knight in Shinning Armour

The Romeo to her Juliet. Why? because , this is a tragic love story without a HEA.

But like Ms. Brooks said, 'It is the tragic ones that are the best'

I give it a 5 'Promises' Stars

“Where’s Dad?” I ask as I watch Mom pull a packet of coffee from the back of the cupboard.
“He’s gone for a run, sweetie,” she says matter-of- factly before throwing me a smile. Mom’s got a great game face. If I’d not overheard her conversation, I’d have no clue she was just upset.
“Okay, I have an idea, and I want you to just trust me, so grab your things and come with me. We’re going out.”
Mom looks a little bewildered by my cryptic request before she shrugs and grins. “Fine, lead the way, Emily.”
We climb into her car and I scroll through my phone until I find the address of the nearest bridal store. I locate one three miles away and begin inputting it into the GPS. Mom looks at the address, and I can see the gears in her head turning as she tries to work out the address and wonders what would have me dragging her out the house for. She’s a good sport and doesn’t seem too put out that I’m refusing to tell her what it is we’re doing as we make the short journey.
A few minutes roll by before we pull up outside Dana’s Bridal Boutique, and the GPS signals that we’ve reached our destination on the left. Mom looks at me questioningly and I give her a rueful smile. There’s only a bakery, coffee shop and the bridal store on this small stretch of road.
“I overheard you and Dad talking this morning.” She still looks confused so I point to the Bridal Boutique. She covers her mouth with her hand as she leans back into her seat, her eyes crinkling as realization dawns. “You were talking about the fact that you should go first, and that you’ll never see me in my wedding dress, or be there with me at the delivery of your first grandchild. Well, there’s little I can do about an immaculate conception,” I shrug, “but this,” I point to the store again. “This I can do.”
I watch as a million different emotions wage war behind her sapphire eyes before she admits defeat, closes them tightly and slumps forward resting her elbows on her knees and her head in her hands. I watch quietly as she holds a finger up to me, signaling she needs a minute. When she finally opens them again, they’re glassy but she seems to have recovered her composure enough to step outside the car. I don’t know what to make of the situation, and honestly, I’m regretting my decision as I climb out and round the car. Maybe this was a stupid idea and is too much for her. Hell, maybe it’s too much for me. I’m about to apologize and tell her so when she finally speaks.
“You really are something kind of wonderful, Emily,” she says before ambushing me in a fiercely tight hug. I sigh and feel a little of the tension drain from my shoulders, like someone’s just turned on an invisible faucet to ease some of the pressure.
“I’m sorry you heard that conversation. I was just having a weak moment. We don’t have to do this,” she whispers into my hair and squeezes before pushing me back to see my face.
“I’m glad I did hear, and I want to do this. Is that weird?” I answer, and it’s the truth. I am glad I overheard their conversation. I hate that she feels like she needs to be strong one hundred percent of the time for me. It’s not healthy.
“It’s not weird at all, Emily.”
“Good. Okay, enough of this.” I square my shoulders. “Let';s get in there and go play dress up.”

I';m a little neurotic; I function on a tiny amount of sleep and a huge amount of caffeine. I love green skittles and have an irrational fear of stormy weather. When I’m not writing about super hot college guys, you can generally find me googling them...All in the name of research of course. I can be persuaded to do just about anything with the promise of a good book or a bottle of bubbles. Oh, and I also love to write.

From Origins by Mary Ting | Cover Reveal

Title: From Origins
Series: Descendant Prophecies
Author: Mary Ting
Cover Artist: Laura Hildago with Bookfabulous Designs
 Date: March 27th, 2015

Skylar, Mason, and the other descendants embark a deadly quest to the underworld to confront the evil Hades, who has been plotting to kill off the descendants of all the gods. On this journey, they soon discover that the ancient gods are not dead as once believed but are held captive in a secret location. In order to save the world from destruction at the hands of Hephaestus, the descendants must set out on a crusade to rescue the gods. In the process, Skylar learns more about her bloodline and her powers, but there is also a heavy price to pay. The darkest forces known to man are about to return to reclaim their stolen kingdom.

Seeing nothing but darkness through door one heightened my awareness, and the mist that slowly crept out like thin layer of clouds, spreading and covering our feet, brought another level of fright. The ground started to shake, then a sound like thunder boomed, getting louder…louder…until it sounded more like a stampede.

My imagination got the best of me as I envision buffaloes charging for us. Roaring sounds burst in the air when a dozen of the Cerberuses tried to charge through at once. I would have preferred the buffaloes, but instead, we got Hades’s guard dogs.

Their glowing red eyes were what I saw first, then their vampire like teeth, and last three heads to a body. With serpent’s heads on the tips of their tales and lion like claws, they looked like they could rip us to shreds as they dashed for us as if we were a gourmet meal.

“Cerberus. I should have guessed.” Zara quaked, standing next to Tara. Extending both of their arms up, they were creating a shied. Blazing light engulfed us.

“You should have guessed sooner, but I don’t think it would have mattered.” Nick’s eyes glowed, ready to fight. “Here puppy, puppy. Let’s play.”

Sneak Peek: Sidelined by Emma Hart

Three people. Three motives. Three reasons.

When the game leaves the field in the second book in the USA Today bestselling BY HIS GAME series and mixes with sex, lies, and betrayal, the future isn't the only thing on the line...

Macey Kelly has sworn off men. Unless they’re going to zip in and out of her apartment—and her vagina—quicker than they can give her an orgasm, she’s not interested. Finding out her boyfriend of three years got her cousin pregnant was a total confidence knock. Luckily for Macey, confidence is
something she has in abundance, so all Mitch’s asshole move did was make her pretty cynical toward men.
The last thing Jack Carr needs at the start of the season is for a dark-haired, sexy as sin, gyspyesque beauty to be consuming his thoughts. Football is his life, which leaves no time for girls. Unless they’re the love ‘em and leave ‘em girls. Becoming one of the best running backs the league has ever seen by racking up the yards is his top priority… not bedding Macey Kelly, despite her affinity for blow jobs and total sexual abandon.
Avoiding each other is the perfect solution, but when your best friends are in a serious living together kind of relationship, that isn’t always an option. Sometimes, sex on tap is the easiest option. And the sweetest.
Until Mitch shows up with a bombshell that could shatter Macey’s perfectly carved out life. It’s been a year, but he isn’t giving her up, not now he has a chance at winning her back. And he knows her buttons. Every single one of them.
Unfortunately for him, Jack Carr isn’t a loser. The star running back has his eye on the Vince Lombardi—and on Macey. But seeing her hanging between them both isn’t something he’s down with, not when he discovers why she’s so against anything more-ish, as she puts it.Macey quickly realizes she’s the ball being passed between two desperate yet opposing teams, and that only one of them can score the touchdown. But will the winner be the guy she lived with and loved for three years, or will the winner be the guy who understands her and makes her body come alive?
In this game, someone will be sidelined, and calling the play isn’t always as easy as it seems.

(SIDELINED is a full-length, standalone novel. It's not necessary to read BLINDSIDED before this book, but it is advised.)

Author Bio:
By day, New York Times and USA Today bestselling New Adult author Emma Hart dons a cape and calls herself Super Mum to two beautiful little monsters. By night, she drops the cape, pours a glass of whatever she fancies - usually wine - and writes books.
Emma is working on Top Secret projects she will share with her followers and fans at every available opportunity. Naturally, all Top Secret projects involve a dashingly hot guy who likes to forget to wear a shirt, a sprinkling (or several) of hold-onto-your-panties hot scenes, and a whole lotta love.
She likes to be busy - unless busy involves doing the dishes, but that seems to be when all the ideas come to life.

My front door slams open. “Are you fucking insane?”

“What?” I stare at Leah. A very angry Leah.

“You’re going on a date with Mitch? Fucked-your-cousin Mitch?”

“It’s not a date,” I protest, throwing my wallet into my purse. “We’re just talking, okay?”

“About what? How he can further try to convince you he messed up oh so badly and wants you back?”

I ignore her, throwing my lip balm and nail file into my purse, too.

“Mace, this is crazy. Just come home with me or something if you’re trying to prove a point.”
“I’m not trying to prove anything.” I say the words calmly, but my lungs are tightening. “Last I checked, I was single, and that means I can do whatever I want.”

“God.” Leah runs her hand through her hair. “Do you know what you’re doing? Like, have you actually thought this through? Jack is going to go fucking mental.”

I stop, my lungs filling with air as I inhale sharply. “Jack doesn’t get a say,” I eventually reply, zipping my purse.

“Of course he does!”

“Does he?” I look at her. “Does he really? Because three days ago, he came barging in here and demanded I tell him what Mitch said. Then, when I did, he spewed a whole bunch of what I now know to be bullshit about how he wants me and will fight him for me. Then, three hours later, my dad flipped and had one of his moments, and Jack walked out. He’s since ignored all my messages.” My voice cracks, but I blink hard and force strength back into it. “So, no, he doesn’t get a say. He doesn’t even get an opinion.”

Leah’s mouth opens and closes a few times.

“Stop smacking your lips together like you’re gasping for air. You aren’t a fish.”

She frowns. “Why would he do that?”

I lift my shoulders for a shrug, but when they fall, they fall really far. “I don’t know,” I say in a small voice. “Seriously, all we do is have sex and fight. It would be really great if the sex outweighed the fighting, but it doesn’t. I don’t think so, anyway. But…why did he have to come back, Lee? Why couldn’t Mitch just stay away?”

She doesn’t answer, and I continue.

“In fact, why couldn’t they both just stay away? Jack and Mitch. I was much happier with Mr. Jack Rabbit. Oh, God, he’s basically named after my vibrator. I can never use it again. I’m never going to have another orgasm again.” I slump onto my sofa with a groan.

“Wow. That was a lot of thoughts in a short space of time.”

“I’m never going to be able to use my vibrator again,” I whine again, resting my head back on the sofa.

Leah stifles a laugh. “I fucking love that, out of everything you just told me, the thing you focus on is the vibrator.”

“Well, duh.” I roll my head so I can look at her. “Mr. Jack Rabbit was the one thing in my life that was supposed to be constant, and if he died on me, I could replace him, no problem. No begging calls, texts, or talks. No emotion fluctuations or arguments. Believe me. Losing my vibrator is far more traumatizing than losing real, live men who piss me off all the time.”

“When you put it like that, there’s no arguing with your logic.”

“Of course there isn’t. Vibrators are logical. Men aren’t. Vibrators can’t talk shit back to you or walk out on you.”

From Emma Hart, the New York Times bestselling author of the Game series, comes a brand new series where the game is realer, the tension is tighter, the sex is hotter, and the stakes are the highest of all…

Two people. Two agendas. Two games.
What happens when the out-there It-Boy of football meets the secret It-Girl of fashion?
As the daughter of Hollywood’s sweetheart, Leah Veronica can’t even buy a coffee without finding her face on a magazine stand, so it’s no wonder she’s launching her first fashion line in secret. With it debuting at New York Fashion Week in just under a month, extra time in the spotlight is the last thing she needs.
The son of the best quarterback the league has ever seen, filling legendary shoes as the L.A. Vipers’ quarterback was inevitable for Corey Jackson. So was meeting Leah Veronica—the first girl to hand him his ass without putting a hair out of place.
Getting the handsome, prickly blonde into his bed becomes his number one goal. But getting the sexy, over-confident footballer the hell away from her becomes Leah’s—at least until she realizes the best way to do that is to give him what he wants.
If only it was that simple.
When Corey discovers who she is, and private photos of Hollywood’s finest find their way online, everything they thought they knew is thrown into disarray.
And when secrets are exposed and hearts are shattered, they have to figure out if they’ve been blindsided by love or reality, and if it’s worth running the extra yard to win the game they never meant to play.

I was standing in the middle of nowhere with no real destination in mind. There was only the dire need to disappear from Charleston. With my head tilted up to the gray sky and my eyes closed, I let the light droplets of rain fall onto my face. I’d reached a crossroads in my life and was trying to find a reason to keep going. I had no idea a hurricane was coming and fate would choose that moment for our paths to cross.

“Hey! You okay?” A voice called out to me in a deep southern drawl, pulling me out of my fog. “Can I give you a ride somewhere?” I opened my eyes and found a pair of intense blue eyes staring back at me. His name was Fox. He had an irresistibly sexy grin, and judging by his fast car, a need for speed. His timing couldn't have been more perfect. "Five minutes until the interview begins.

Fresh on the heels of her college graduation, Cameron Heart has landed an interview at a prestigious architecture firm.

Four minutes until the interview.

She knows she’s only there because the owner, Grayson Cole, is her older sister’s friend.

Three minutes.

For the last seven years, Grayson has been the most intimidating man Cammie has ever had the pleasure, or displeasure, of being around.

Two Minutes.

But the job opportunity is too good to pass up. So, Cammie will have to ignore the fact that Grayson is handsome enough to have his own national holiday.

After all, she shouldn’t feel that way about her new boss. And, he will be her new boss.

“I’m not intimidated by you,” I said with a confident smile.
“Perhaps we should fix that, Ms. Heart. Close the door.”

My Thoughts

The Design is the second book in the Heart Series telling us the story of Cammie Heart and Grayson Cole.

I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every single page of this book, not even for a second did I loose interest. I mean, I had to literally stop myself from highlighting the whole book.

There is just so much to write about this book, I'm literally having problem as to what to write and what to leave out!!

"He was the Mr. Darcy to my Elizabeth Bennet, the Prince Charming to my Cinderella, and most importantly, the Ron Weasley to my Hermione Granger."

'Le Sigh! Now who doesn't want their personal Mr. Darcy and Prince Charming? Grayson Cole was all of the above! Yes! Even Ron Weasley.

Grayson is this person that has aura around him that demands attention of the characters in the book and the reader's as well.

He gives off a mysterious vibe. And he is! behind those designer suits and hard exterior is a person who is loving, caring, protective, challenging, passionate about his work and one who do anything for Cammie.

And as the author so aptly put it " Grayson pulled up- looking like Batman in his dark gray sports car. He had on a pair of worn jeans and a white undershirt.... Hello, Grayson Cole"

Now, Batman! He's sexy!

Cammie! Now what can I say about her... She is an absolutely beautiful character. I loved her in 'The Duet' and I love her even more now.

It's amazing how her mind works. She puts up a front of being this strong person, which she is, but inside her she has that 'itch' to be something more. To be independent, to be an amazing architect, to stand for herself and I commend her for that.

What also attracts Cammie towards the reader is her wittiness. She is quick and sharp.. Take a look

"It was so boring that for one thirty minute stretch I had a vivid day dram about Michael Fassbender, in which he taught me how to drive stick shift sand then we bumped uglies in the back of his car."
And add Brooklyn to mix... Well read it for yourself

" 'Too late. No one take advantage of mon petit dejune.' A part of me wanted to tell Brooklyn that she had just called me "her little breakfast," but another part of me wanted to warn Alan. He might be terrible, but hell hath no fury like my pop star sister scorned."

These little things is what made the book and like I said in the beginning I enjoyed reading it!

Now to the most amazing part of the book: The Ending!

Boy, did not see that coming! Ms. Grey doesn't give us just one but TWO EPILOGUES!!!

What could be better than that?!

The ending was absolutely perfect!
