Blind Date by Emma Hart | SURPRISE RELEASE

Blind dates are the work of the devil…
I’m a serial-one nighter, and my best friend is my inner slut.
He’s temptation personified, and his best friend is definitely his cock.
Carter Hughes gave me a taste of my own medicine. He wham, bam, thank you ma’amed me into oblivion, and I hell yes, oh God, right there’d him into paradise.
I thought that would be the end—until my mother’s double booking for a consultation winds me right back up at the place I swore I’d never go again. Now I’m fighting for an interior design contract I don’t even want... Just to make a point.
If I get it, the date won’t be the devil.
Carter Hughes will be.

(Disclaimer: BLIND DATE was originally published as a short story in the ONE anthology. It has now been expanded into a longish novella, approx. 47k words.)

By day, New York Times and USA Today bestselling New Adult author Emma Hart dons a cape and calls herself Super Mum to two beautiful little monsters. By night, she drops the cape, pours a glass of whatever she fancies - usually wine - and writes books.

Emma is working on Top Secret projects she will share with her followers and fans at every available opportunity. Naturally, all Top Secret projects involve a dashingly hot guy who likes to forget to wear a shirt, a sprinkling (or several) of hold-onto-your-panties hot scenes, and a whole lotta love.
She likes to be busy - unless busy involves doing the dishes, but that seems to be when all the ideas come to life.

"An actress since she was fourteen years old, Paige Lockwood finds herself craving a little normalcy after a scandal rocks her otherwise predictable world. With everyone in her life attempting to control her, she takes matters into her own hands and leaves town without so much as a plan or a destination.

But the destination finds her as car trouble forces Paige to settle down in a small Southern town as she waits for repairs. There she meets the handsome, albeit standoffish, Tatum Montgomery, and both of their lives are forever altered as they learn that sometimes when you aren't looking for love, it finds you anyway.

But the real question is: Can you hold on to it when you're from two completely different worlds?"

My Thoughts

Breaking Stars is the second book in the Celebrity Series following the story of Paige and Tatum.

Paige Lockwood also known as America's Sweetheart has been a Holly wood Actress since she was seventeen. Despite being handed everything on a silver platter her life is not as easy or glamorous as it seems. She is controlled by her publicist and agent and she has to face the backlash after being cheated on by her Rockstar boyfriend.

To escape all the drama she leaves LA with no place in mind. A flat tire in the middle of nowhere lands her with a chance encounter with Tatum Montgomery.Tatum comes from a small town named Hanford, named after the first resident of that place in Louisiana.

Then as Jenn put it, the story was a 'cliche.' Movie star falls in love a small town boy. Add an ignorant, irritating ex-girlfriend that you just want to strangle and an over-confident, cocky ex-boyfriend AND paparazzi's and it's the perfect mix for a disaster.

Returning to her life, Paige faces a lot of backlash after her disappearance but she finally takes charge of her life and does what she wants. And well, who doesn't love a classic HEA?

Among the hurdles and mishaps, Paige grew as a person. She took hold of her and said to hell with everything.

What I liked about this story is that the movie-star, for a change is not the male. Jenn gave us the ugly side of being a star which we as 'common' people don't tend to get to know about. In that way, I found it refreshing.

This book is fast paced with enough character development in regards to the story line. If you are looking for a quick and easy read with drama in it then this book is for you.

How does your mind move on from someone your soul can't seem to forget? How can your heart resist a love that never fully came to be?
Ten years. It's been ten years since Hailee saw Corwin Rogers. In person that is, because despite their lack of physical contact, Corwin's gorgeous face has plagued her dreams all this time. In its most idle hours of the night, her mind always reverts back to the image of the teenage boy she loved in secret years ago.
They were classmates for four years, forging a limited friendship within school grounds and occasional parties, but they also shared a unique bond over their struggles. Hailee never told him how she felt, and she wasn't sure if the feelings were reciprocated, but she always wondered. How could she not when he shared so much of himself with her and only her?
Seeing him a decade after their high school graduation presents the two with another fateful opportunity to be everything for one another. Hailee starts to consider that her inexplicable dreams actually mean something, and that her ties to Corwin are stronger than she ever allowed herself to believe. But after years of separation, their chance at happiness is challenged by secrets from their time apart. When the truth emerges, colliding pasts and futures, Hailee and Corwin have to decide if they truly are perfectly aligned.

“Hailee? Is that you?” he asked in a shaky voice, as though he couldn’t trust the sight before him.  Corwin’s deep voice sounded loudly in my ears despite the coolness it carried. It sounded the same, yet different. Its tone and husk reminded me of all our past moments, of the way I would rise and also fall apart when he called my name all those years ago. But it also possessed an unfamiliar maturity and maleness that made blood rush into my cheeks and heat reach my ears. With my heart racing, I realized I had no choice but to turn around and see him.

“Hey!” I said as I turned around and met those same olive eyes that haunted my idle mind at night. My tone implied that I was oblivious to who was behind me, but my heart knew. It was beating harshly, banging against my lungs so convulsively it made my chest ache and breathing short. He looked even better up close, and his smile grew wide upon visually confirming that it was indeed Hailee Samuels he was speaking to. College had certainly changed him.

His life during our time apart had shaped him into the man before me, one I didn’t know, but badly wanted to. Muscles drew lines across his taut shirt with short sleeves that revealed a peek at his sturdy biceps. Faint stubble lined his sharp jaw making him seem more dangerous and beautiful than the clean-shaven boy I remembered. Corwin’s dark brown hair was longer and straight, pointing in all directions, and it made me wonder if it was something he worked on meticulously or if it was a perfect, sexy bed-head he simply woke up with. I became aware that time was passing in silence as we both took each other in.

“It is you,” he whispered, his eyes opening wide. “It’s been years. How are you?” Surprising me, he came in for a hug before I could protest. Of course, I was sticky and sweaty, and he smelled wonderful, like evergreen trees covered in dewy raindrops. I missed the new scent the second he pulled away.

“Yeah,” I said, feeling inept. “It’s been almost ten years. I’m great. How are you doing?”

“Great. I moved back home two months ago and live about twenty minutes from here. Are you local?”

While he awaited my response, Corwin studied me. He looked at me from head to toe, glancing up and down repeatedly with a tenacious intensity. His eyes trailed over my tight yoga pants and fitted top, making me blush even though I was proud of my physique. I wasn’t offended by him looking at me. Actually, it was fantastic, and my enthusiastic acceptance of it was certainly a side effect of my dream from that morning. Even then I felt turned on just by his gaze, only to have it fueled by his next words.

“You look incredible … like, really good.” He spit it out before I could answer his question and coughed after as if the words had forced themselves from his throat. I didn’t think it was possible for my cheeks to burn more.

“Thanks …” I mumbled with a sudden shyness. “I live in Shoreline, so yeah, I’m local.”

“That’s great. I’m so glad to see you.” His voice sounded genuine and filled with interest. Corwin looked me in the eyes and held my gaze. He seemed lost in so many thoughts, piquing my curiosity and I blinked a few times before he caught himself staring. Then he added, “Listen, I have to go see my dad, but I’d love to catch up for lunch or something soon.”

“Yeah, that’d be great,” I said, trying not to take him too seriously, but allowing my intrigue to get the best of me. I couldn’t help but be curious as to what that man from my dreams and the boy from my past had been up to all those lost years.

“Here, give me your number and I’ll call you so we can figure something out.” He was serious, handing me his phone so I could punch my number in. When I handed it back, he called me immediately so that I’d have his contact information on mine. Or perhaps he was testing to see if I gave him my actual number, because when my phone rang in my purse he smiled as if filled with relief.

Corwin pulled me in for another hug, one I permitted myself to savor, and then he rushed off. Squinting back once more before leaving the market, his expression demonstrated complete disbelief at our encounter; I felt rather the same. He left me clutching my sunflowers and wondering if that had really just happened. In the four years I knew and adored him, he’d never asked for my phone number, and after my dream and that meeting, I had no control over thinking about him for the rest of the day.

About Stephanie Alba

Stephanie Alba has wanted to write for as long as she can remember. Writing was always a way to express herself, as well as an escape. In August of 2014, Stephanie decided to start writing a story that she dreamed about. At first it was just something fun for her to do, a way of keeping her sanity during her first year as a stay at home mom. Over the months she couldn’t stop writing and that’s where For Both Are Infinite came along. Rhys and Ellie’s story was hard work, but it allowed her to fulfill the goal she’d always had of writing a novel.
Before becoming an indie author, Stephanie taught high school English. Now she is a stay at home mom to the happiest baby ever, a wife to an amazing husband, and a graduate school student. She also hopes to continue writing. When she’s not glued to her laptop or with a notebook in her hand, she’s swimming, running, reading or chasing her toddler.
Stephanie is currently working on her second novel, a friends to lovers story set in Washington state. It is set to release during fall 2015. She also plans on writing more of Ellie and Rhys’ story, as well as stories focusing on other characters you meet in For Both Are Infinite.

Will Ashton
Music is my motivation. I’ve always believed that, because of it, I would be somebody. Somebody to someone, and something to myself.

At age four, I picked up my grandfather’s acoustic guitar and, up until three weeks ago, I’ve never put it down. From a single chord to a full arrangement, music fed my soul. I craved it with every fiber of my being, but now, I just don’t know. That driving force that’s always pushed me has somehow stalled, along with the thrill, the passion, and the familiarity . . . it’s all gone. I’m beginning to worry that my love for music just isn’t enough.

As the summer tour finally comes to an end, I head to the Blue Ridge Mountains instead of returning to Nashville. It’s here that I’ve always been able to lose myself amongst the solitude and the lake, but what I didn’t expect to find was her.

Wild blonde hair, light blue eyes, and a laugh I find myself trying to coax from her has me completely enamored. She’s quiet, incredibly poised, and driven by secrets as big as the mountains around us. They’re what’s made her untouchable, and left me wanting to know more.

Maybe that’s what I need. Maybe I need more. Maybe I need her.

Ava Layne
They say that life isn’t about how many breaths we take, but how many moments take our breath away. But what if those moments aren’t filled with happiness and love, but something dark and haunting? For me, it’s those moments that’ve shaped and taken over my life. I can’t change who I am, God knows I’ve tried, and, because of this, I’ve accepted the silver lining . . . I’m alive.

Fifty-two white keys, thirty-six black keys, ten fingers, seven notes, two friends, and one stage. At the piano, on the stage, with my two best friends, I finally found myself, and I live for those moments. One by one, I collect them, cherish them, patiently waiting for the next, until it arrives and changes everything. That’s the moment I meet him."

My Thoughts

Kathryn Andrews' Blue Horizons is one of those books which is filled with loads and loads of fluff with just the right amount of angst that you can't help but smile from the beginning to the end.

This novel though based on the rockstar 'genre' is so different from the others in its category. This story is about Ash and Ava and their emotionally filled story that is bound to stay with the reader in one way or another. The characters are fantastic and easily relatable, the story is engaging and the emotions just leap from the written words and surrounds you within it.

Ash, known as Will Ashton to the rest of the world is an honest to god good guy. Everything was perfect for him and why not he was living his dream! But then the lights, the crowd and everything that comes with being a Country singer superstar started weighing him down he left everything to find that missing piece of him that got lost in the fame.

Ava, known as Avery Layne to rest of the world lives, eats and breathes music but what she craves the most is some normalcy and a steady pace from her life. She moved to New York to escape from the betrayal she suffered at the hands of the people who were supposed to love her; but the ghosts of her past still haunt her after so many years.

Blue Horizons tells an emotional story of two lost souls, who are in search for something more. To escape the madness that surrounds them they find themselves in North Carolina. They hoped and wanted for peace and quite, something their lifestyle didn't let them have. But what they find among the beautiful scenery is a whirlwind romance packed with emotional turmoil leading them both down a path that they never thought to be possible.

This novel is well rounded. It gives both the leading characters enough scope and time to develop. One of Kathryn Andrews' plus point is her ability to subtly weave jam packed emotions in her words without suffocating the characters. Another is her ability to give the setting of the story its own identity! The places are described in such beautiful details, you can't help but conjure images in your mind! Kathryn also adds the perfect amount of mystery in the story to keep the reader on his/her toes. And boy does she give you a run for the money. The 'little' mystery isn't revealed until the 98% mark of the book!

Oh and the music! There is so much music in and around the story... *sigh* I love music. I'm crazy about music so that was an added bonus for me.

The chemistry between Ash and Ava is tangible from the first time they met. But is that chemistry enough when they are lying about who they are to each other?

Yet another emotion filled story by Kathryn Andrews that shows you the highs and lows that comes with being musical superstars. This novel is very well put together. Kathryn created two beautiful characters that find solace in each other. This book is definitely different from her debut series. It is more mature and will appeal to the people that don't mind reading about a book that is venturing in and between YA/NA genre.

Dirty Lies (The Burke Brothers, #3) by Emma Hart | BOOK REVIEW

Dirty Lies (The Burke Brothers, #3)Dirty Lies by Emma Hart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Buy Dirty Lies (Kindle)

Bad boy drummer Aidan Burke of Dirty B takes center stage in New York Times bestselling author Emma Hart’s hotly anticipated follow-up to Dirty Past and Dirty Secret!
Aidan Burke is the perfect rebound guy for Jessie Law after she catches her asshole ex-boyfriend with his hands down some other girl’s pants. The world-famous drummer of Dirty B isn’t shy about his preference for no-strings-attached relationships, so when she meets him on a night out, she takes him up on his simple proposal: One night of fun. Hot sex. Zero expectations.

But Dirty B’s tour is over, and they’re back in South Carolina—which means running into Aidan more often than Jessie would like.

When Aidan saves Jessie from her ex-boyfriend by insisting the two are dating, the band’s manager convinces them to keep up the charade in the hopes of re-inventing Dirty B’s image as lovable bad boys, as opposed to d-bags. Now all Aidan and Jessie have to do is put on a very obvious, very public show to convince everyone their affection is real.

But pretending to be in a relationship is harder than it seems. Aidan’s hordes of jealous fans have no problem bombarding Jessie with threatening messages online—and worse. And things only get more complicated when Jessie realizes her feelings for Aidan may not be so fake after all. Can Jessie live with the risks? And is Aidan willing to let her?

My Thoughts

Tate Burke? Who Tate Burke? Oh! I see, you talking about the eldest Burke brother. Well pfft, if you thought that Tate Burke was a hot piece of alpha male that would make you go weak in your knees then you haven't acquainted yourself with Aidan Burke.

Whoop whoop! Dirty B are back in Shelton Bay and Aidan Burke is about to wreck the best kind of havoc in Jessie Law's life. Now, Aidan and Jessie are not meeting each other for the first time. They've known each other since high school hating each other but now, years later they meet again and sparks fly! *cue Taylor Swift's track*

"Why, Aidan Burke, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you like me."
"Like you? Here's an idea, baby, shut your mouth for five minutes and let me just show you how much I like you."

Aidan isn't looking for happy-ever-afters and Jessie is on the hunt for a distraction after being cheated by her ex-boyfriend. These two meet in a club and then... BAM! Passion from the first look.

One night.
One proposition.
One lie.

One chance encounter and eye contact, both have the single most amazing night and even more amazing sex of their life. But it was just one wild wild night before they realized that what they had was not a one night thing.

"A real gentleman would absolutely haul his woman off his shoulder –and he'd smack her ass for good measure too."

Well, whoever said that romance was lost? Jessie wasn't ready to 'spanked' of her feet. Nope. She was perfectly content with what was between Aidan and her.
And well then there is Aidan. Behind all that bad boy persona lies an extremely sweet and caring man. He even saves Jessie from her good-for-nothing ex boyfriend when he shows up at her work begging for a second chance.

And then comes the proposition and begins the whole charade of dating.

"...of all the lies I've told, you're my favorite one."

And why not? It is after all a win-win situation for both of them. Aidan gets the label and paparazzi off his back and Jessie gets rid of her ex.

But all lies have a way of coming back and biting you in the ass, right? But what happens when that bite turn out to be a major love bite that both of them weren't exactly expecting?

When a Burke falls in love he falls HARD. Aidan's fans, the Dirty B Divas, are not happy with the bad boy being taken. They love Aidan and they 'gun' for Jessie. Oh what? You thought it was rainbows and sunshine? Think more along the lines of hate messages, egged cars and death threats... Yup. That's what you get for loving a Burke.

Like any trademark Emma Hart heroine, Jessie is feisty, independent and strong and butts heads with Aidan and faces the backlash with poise. Until she couldn't?

"Open your eyes... Then you know what you look like when you belong to me."

Will Aidan and Jessie's love be enough? Or will everything come crumbling down?

Work Song by Danielle Allen | BOOK REVIEW

Work SongWork Song by Danielle Allen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Buy Work Song (Kindle)

When society tries to put you in a box, knock the walls down. –Tati Green

“You have a pretty face” is such a back-handed compliment. It’s like telling me that my face is beautiful, but the rest of me is not.

Despite what society says, my curves are hot.
My love life, on the other hand, is not.

My mom says I’ll never find love because of my weight.

My sister says I’ll never find love because of my personality.

My almost-fiancé says I’ll never find love because I’m incapable of loving anyone.

My mom and sister are full of it, but my ex kind of has a point.

At twenty-seven years old, I’ve never been in love. I date a lot, yet sparks never fly. But when I experienced the heart-pounding, skin tingling feeling for the first time, I didn’t think it would be caused by a guy I’ve never met. And I damn sure didn't think he would end up holding my future in his hands in more ways than one.

My Thoughts

Work Song is a story unlike any other I have come across. This novel takes a step out of your stereotypical characters generally seen in the Romance genre.

Danielle Allen's voice is very powerful and her characters are a representation of that. She touches on the everyday topics that a person, specifically a woman questions herself about everyday.

Am I thin enough? Am I too fat? Am I pretty enough? Am I good enough? Can I survive in a male dominated world? Can I pull at the top without forgoing my dignity and self-respect?

Tatiana Green just doesn't answer all the questions but goes far beyond these questions. She is confident, smart, witty with a banging body even though her mother and sister thinks that she needs to lose weight and an absolutely amazing career. And the best of friends that a girl could ask for.

Basically, Tatiana Green is the whole package. The kind of woman that most of aspire to be.

Enter Wesley Barnes. They both work in the same company but on the opposite side of the world. They start out as email friends. They are the perfect match for each other. Complete movie geeks quoting some of the best quotes left, right and center.

It's amazing to read how their relationship progress from a mere email to full-blown-hot-sex with a lot of movie quotes and daily banter. They wouldn't be Tati and Wes if they didn't quote a minimum of 3 movie lines.

The writing was great. It flowed seamlessly from one scene to another. I would definitely recommend this book to be given a chance.

I was his lucky Penny. He was my light in the dark, hope in despair. Our bond was one of survival, friendship... first love.

But then we were ripped apart and Blake Weston became the memory I turned to when everything else in my life fell apart.

Seven years later, a summer working at Camp Chance is supposed to be my fresh start. Beautiful scenery and the chance to better the lives of foster children--kids like me. But when my eyes land on him across the fire, time stands still and feelings come rushing back to the surface. I thought I'd moved on, tucked him away in my heart. One look into his soulful blue eyes and I know I'm wrong. Blake Weston can heal the broken parts of me. Restore my hope. Love me.

It's our second chance. A sign we are supposed to be together.

Isn't it?

I was twelve when I survived the accident that killed my parents. Fourteen when I survived the devil. And sixteen, when I survived a heartbreak of the worst kind.

But in my twenty-three years, Blake Weston might just be the first thing I won't survive.

“You look like you’ve seen a ghost, Penny?” Marissa nudged me again, only this time when I turned to face her she was wearing a look of confusion, while I was trying to fight back the panic rising in me.

“I, I’m not sure. The tall one, he looked familiar.”

“You mean Blake?”

My heart beat in double time.

Then crashed.

And for a moment I was certain it stopped beating.

Everything stopped.

I couldn’t breathe.

I couldn’t swallow.

I couldn’t get out the words almost choking me.

My eyes snapped up at the sound of Marissa’s voice, and something caught my attention. Through the flames I saw the two guys talking. The one I thought I recognized was listening to the other guy, but he wasn’t looking at his friend. His blue eyes were set firmly on me.

Eyes I’d spent days and nights dreaming of.

Eyes that had kept the nightmares at bay.

Eyes I thought I’d never see again.

“Penny, you’re freaking me out a little over here.”

Marissa’s voice deflected off my impending meltdown. I came to Camp Chance to heal. Not to have every scar I’d ever been inflicted with ripped open again and laid bare.

But my past and present had just collided.

I never thought I'd see Blake Weston again, but he was sitting across the fire from me.

A ghost from my past.

Looking right at me.
