BOOK REVIEW ― Crown of Lies (Truth and Lies Duet #1) by Pepper Winters

"I met the boy I wanted. But then he vanished and a new man claimed me instead. My father approved, my colleagues congratulated, and behind closed doors, I was bedded by a stranger.”

Noelle Charlston lived a fairy-tale life: a doting father, a powerful job, and a future blessed with financial security.

However, two meetings with two men changed her happy existence forever. First, she met the boy who made her heart sing. Second, she met the man who made her blood quiver.

Noelle’s freedom was no longer hers. It belonged to the man her father believed was the perfect match. The man who pulled his lies over everyone he touched.
Including her.

Seduced and manipulated, Noelle lives two lives. The one everyone sees on the outside and the one no one sees on the inside. The lies he spins, the truth he hides, the mystery he webs—it’s all enough to slowly erode the woman she’d been and turn her into something else.

Until her past collides with her present.
And it’s her turn to lie.
To everyone…including herself."

Rating & Review

I think the term mindf@ck was created to explain Pepper Winters style of writing. Doubt, fear, and unease are all symptoms of the disease. If you have read Crown of Lies, you have been infected. I have no doubt that you spent the entire book wondering...

Wondering about that night. About Nameless. About so many different clues.

But in the end, the lies and truths won't save you. Doubt, fear, and shame won't keep you. You will be trapped. Trapped in a web of half -truths, lies, and disbelief. Trust...

Trust has to be given. It can be earned but never forced. So who will you trust? The lies, the truth, or your gut.

Rating & Review

Phew! January feels like the month of firsts. I've picked up books by so many authors for the first time and HJ Bellus definitely belongs in this category.

First thing first, it is advised that you read Royal Atlas before picking up Gravity. Another thing... I am a rule breaker so I didn't do what was advised. LOL! But rest assured, if you do pick up Gravity before Royal Atlas, that is completely okay since this book can stand alone and I didn't find anything or any situation in the story that left me disconnected from certain parts of the book because I didn't read it in order.

HJ Bellus has written a story that is utterly heartbreaking and captivating at the same time. She literally ripped my heart out one page at a time and then managed to piece it back again but not without leaving the scars behind.

descriptionYour first love is nothing to joke about. It’s powerful, overwhelming, and something that haunts you forever. When your first love is severed, you lose a piece of your soul. Your world shatters.

These lines perfectly describe what you are going to get. Gracie and Amos loved each other through high school and adulthood separated miles apart with Amos at war and Gracie at home, waiting. The conditions weren't ideal, but they made it work because their love was worth it. It was any other day for Gracie but that same old day became a day she wouldn't forget. The day where she was told that the love of her life, the father to their unborn child was killed in the line of duty.

I swear, from this point on the tears didn't stop for a minute.
And then she met Cub Stent.

descriptionCub Stent storms into my life piecing together my secret. He fills dark mysterious holes that have been vacant for years. Does my heart have room for a second love?

Gracie on meeting Cub had no clue just how close they were to each other and they fall had and fast for each other. Through this journey, you see insta-love, see both, Cub and Gracie, fighting their demons. You see them fighting to reach their happy ever after. You see angst. Loads of angst and heartbreak and moments that just make you laugh out loud.

Do they get the Happy Ever After they deserve? Yes. But not without going through a lot of trials and tribulations and they manage to come out as winners having each other by their side.

There is not one character who didn't fit into the story. Every single character had a purpose in supporting not only Gracie but supporting her relationship with Cub as well.
Be ready to ugly cry and keep tissues in handy because you are going to need it.

BOOK REVIEW ― Casanova by Emma Hart

"Once upon a time, I loved him.
He broke me and he didn't even know it.
I ran from him.
He didn't chase me.
He never needed to, because he knew I'd come back.
He was right.
Death brought me home to him.
Brett Walker.
Drop dead gorgeous and filthy-mouthed with a smile that turns saints to sinners.
A casanova to his core.
My ex-best friend.
And the bad boy whose reputation precedes him—the same reputation I'm tasked with turning to gold... Or so they think.
Revenge is a dish best served cold, after all..."

Rating & Review

descriptionI broke my best friend’s heart. No wonder she fucking hated me.

I never get tired of reading an Emma Hart book. I mean, I'm at a point, where Emma needs to simply mention that she is going to be writing a new book and I just know I'm going to reading it and Casanova was no exception.

I love second chance romance, especially if it is between best friends and another favorite trope within this sub-genre is one of the love-hate relationships and Casanova delivered all three. Told from the dual point of view, Casanova follows the story of childhood best friends, Brett and Lani.

From the moment Brett and Lani come face to face, you know that there is something between the two. Something that has been brewing inside the two of them for the last two years waiting to burst out.
The love they suppress and turn into hate and a connection that they can't deny Brett and Lani can't seem to avoid each other of the connection they feel.

descriptionShe was broken. I broke her. I wanted to fix her. But what did you do when nothing you could ever do would ever fix it? You stood. You listened. You took all her hurt inside you, finally releasing it from her. And you realized that one day someone would love her harder and treat her better than you ever could. Even if it fucking broke you right back.

I loved Lani and Brett together. The sassiness, cocky attitude and the love-hate they had going were explosive when everything went down.

Now, I know that Casanova has mixed reviews. It is liked by some and disliked by some but on a personal level, I definitely enjoyed it. Yes, it may not be the best Emma Hart book, which I became accustomed to in the last year, but it was a book that I enjoyed and would love to re-visit certain parts of the book in future.

BOOK REVIEW ― The Neighborhood (Twin Estates, #2) by Stylo Fantome

"Things a bad neighbor can do to you:

1. Have loud parties late at night

2. Refuse to mow his lawn

3. Steal your newspapers

4. Rip your heart out and walk all over it

Katya Tocci is willing to admit that she may have bitten off more than she could chew.

Liam Edenhoff showed her a side of life she'd been missing out on - sex and friendship and tacos. But then he betrayed her.

Wulfric Stone taught her that big surprises can come from unexpected places - like from a surly, aggressive, withdrawn bastard. But then he broke her heart.

Now one of them wants forgiveness, and the other wants forever. And Katya? She just wants to forget.

Who knew neighbors could be so difficult?"

Rating & Review

descriptionHaving a good neighbor is nice, but having one that loves you and takes care of you and makes every moment feel like it's catching on fire? Well, that's just the best neighbor ever ...

OMG! The drama! The freakin' drama in this book! This book is on fire with double the drama, double the angst, double the pain, double the fun and this time everyone is in on the game that Katya wants to play.

If you think The Neighbor was the one that messed with your head, think again because The Neighborhood will leave you reeling with its storyline. You will see a side of Katya, Wulf, and Liam that you had never seen before and never knew to have it in them.
Katya is a woman scorned by not one but two men, who were close to her, and now she is on a mission to make their life a living hell by torturing them with what they can't have... Her.

description...I want him to love me the way he made me love him.

You may hate it or you may love it but you cannot deny the pull of this story. You will be sucked in, flipping the pages, questioning until the end will Katya choose Wulf or will she choose Liam?

This time the character have you so invested in them trying to figure out their next move and one thing that I can say is, get ready for one hell of a rollercoaster ride and just hope that Katya ends up with the guy that is right for her.

Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to the neighborhood that never sleeps.

descriptionI'm scared you'll never know how much I love you.”
“You ... love ... what?”
“I think I've loved you for a really long time. And I'm scared because I've never been in love, and I'm scared because I don't know if you'll ever love me back, but ... but I don't care. I told you I'd fight for you, but that wasn't really right. I'll fight for us, no matter how hard it gets.”

BOOK REVIEW ― Entice Me (Stark Trilogy, #3.11) by J. Kenner

"I didn’t understand passion until I met Damien, the man who turned my world upside down and swept me off my feet.

And though our life together feels perfect, we can’t escape our secrets--and the danger that continually threatens to surface.

But for one night, I seek a respite. A birthday wish for my husband, my lover, my friend—one absolutely perfect night.

description You’re not alone. I’m right there with you, baby. If there are ghosts, we’ll fight them together. And I promise you, we’ll win.

The first time I came across J. Kenner and fell in love with Damien and Nikki was in 2014. It's 2017 and I can honestly say that, four years later, Damien and Nikki still manage to make me swoon.

There have been times where I have lost interest in a series because it was stretched for longer than it was necessary. I don't know Kenner does it but she has kept her fans engaged in Damien and Nikki so much so that whenever she mentions that she is going to write another novella, all of us go crazy wanting to know what and how it is going to be. With Entice Me, it was exactly the same.

Page after page, word after word, Kenner kept me rooted to my seat, drowning in Damien and Nikki's passion. The love that these two share is swoon worthy and off-the-charts hot. As always Entice Me was another great addition to Damien and Nikki's story!

description I can’t help but wonder if there will ever be a time when I’ll no longer have such a deep, sensual, visceral reaction to nothing more than the sight of him.
