BOOK REVIEW — Ryan's Bed by Tijan
You can’t battle someone who’s lost everything.
Wow!
When I first read the title of the book I expected the classic Tijan book — full of angst, drama, emotional ups and downs that I was simply going to go crazy over; but then I read the blurb and I knew it would be different and it was!
Ryan's Bed is your classic Tijan with all the angst, high school drama and emotions but it has a twist to it that will leave you shaken.
This story is about self-discovery, the grief of losing the other half of you, finding your place in a new world — new place, new school, new friends — of fighting through each and every day trying to come up stronger, piecing yourself back, and falling in love.
All of these themes come together to make one book that is absolutely beautiful in its brokenness.
Willow’s gone, and I’ll always feel as if half of me has been ripped away, but I know someday those wounds might heal over. I’m not saying I’ll completely be right one day, but I’m saying that until most of those layers of pain have gone away, I can’t say it back. There isn’t enough room inside to say it back. Not yet.
What I love the most about this book is one, the innate strength of Mackenzie and Ryan and two, the way Tijan dealt with this book.
This is Tijan's rawest book to date and she has dealt with the "taboo" topics beautifully! Dare I say this is her best work to date.
This is a powerful story that will leave your heart aching. So if you want an unforgettable read, pick this one up.
