BOOK REVIEW — Chasing Clouds by Kathryn Andrews

I've read all of Kathryn Andrews' books and this is by far my favourite!

I was just 5% in the book and I already had this big smile on my face! I don't know what it was, okay so I know exactly what it was that made me smile and I knew I would enjoy this one.

descriptionHe’s just saved me and ruined me at the same time.

I will say this though, for me, the books started a tad slow and while I was into it I wasn't flipping pages like I usually do but when the setting changed from gold old Southern royalty to New York City that was when my interest started to build up.
Once I crossed that bridge and the interest had been built that was when the pages started to flip!

Chasing Clouds started out as an impulsive decision on part of the lead characters, Reid and Camille but slowly and surely it became something more!

The fake husband trope, I'm going to be very honest, has been used multiple times and I've read it a multiple times but this book was different than those I have read.

Kathryn Andrews adds her own spin with the southern affluent girl marrying the NFL football player. I mean, the way these two people came to be was the selling point for me.

Reid objected against Camille marrying Patrick which left the entire church and its occupants stunned. The best part about all of this? Reid only met Camille the day before at her rehearsal dinner. This was literally one of my favourite parts, amongst other, and left me with a huge smile on my face!

I loved the slow and steady progression of Reid and Camille's relationship. They started out as husband and wife; two strangers who said 'I Do' who then went on to be housemates, then friends and slowly ventured into the more and once they became lovers, there was no turning back for them.
I love a good relationship build-up and Andrews did that perfectly!

descriptionMy favorite thing we did was everything, because I got to be with you.

I could call this one a Romance and be done with it but I don't think that would capture the entirety of the book. Sure, there is romance but there is also familial conflict, angst, secrets, chemistry, passion, love but more importantly, this is the story of self-love and self-reflection, of understanding ourselves and finding those pieces we lost as we grew up. To bring them back piece by piece and build yourself for yourself.

Reid and Camille had to learn to love themselves and accept who they were — warts and all — before they could love each other.

Overall, I recommend this book to anyone who just wants a light, swoony, summer escape. Chasing Clouds was endearing, sweet and oh-so-charming.
