Book Review | Fake It 'Til You Break It by Meagan Brandy

Meagan Brandy has become an instant favourite since the release of the Brayshaw series last year and you know what? I freaking love it!

Before we get into the review, I just want to point out how refreshing it has been to read a New Adult Romance after so long, that does not have high school characters that are larger than, dripping in money and in general the ruler of the entire school. I loved this aspect which also just so happens to be what makes it so different from the Brayshaw books.

I don’t want your lies. I want your all.

Fake It 'Til You Break It is the perfect culmination of three of my favourite tropes — fake relationship, opposites attract and an NA/YA school romance.

From the very first page, I was invested in the book and had the urge to read one more page just kept growing.

The very first thing I noticed when I was only three chapters in was, Brandy had made sure that the writing style would be different from her recent bestseller. The plot was its own, the characters were their selves and not even for a minute did I feel like she had created a character in this world that was already present in the other worlds she has created before.

Nico and Demi, oh how imperfectly perfect they were as individuals and as a couple. Two opposites in every sense of the word, they come together as one with different goals in mind and got something that neither of them was expecting to happen.

Demi is the kind of girl who consciously makes an effort to be a good student and a good daughter and drive to achieve the thing she wants is something to be admired about.

Nico is the all-out alpha broody bad boy with a chip on his shoulder. But as the story progresses you see the different sides of him, adding dimension to his character but still staying true to his original characterization.

It was you. You were what he wanted to gain. All this, everything that’s happened, was to win you in the end, and not as his prize, as his girl.

Without going too much into the story and possibly giving away any spoilers, Fake It 'Til You Break It is an absolutely engaging, entertaining and exciting read from the first page.

This book had everything I was looking for in a book at the moment and to not only get that in a story from a favourite author but also check all my boxes for the YA/NA romance, it was nothing short of a cherry on the chocolate cake!
